Song Sparrow and Mountain Chickadee

While I watched a song sparrow (Melospiza melodia) feed along Ash Creek (Lassen County CA), a mountain chickadee (Poecile gambeli) flew down and joined the sparrow. The chickadee was only interested in getting a drink while the sparrow foraged. It was delightful to see the two species together for  a couple minutes.

What a sweet picture of the two hanging out together.

The song sparrow seemed a bit interested in the chickadee, however, the chickadee was only concerned with getting a drink. “Hanging out together” is such a charming thought though.
